Orcon NF4V setup (netcomm)

Here's the simple step by step set up for an Orcon router.
Please note: These instructions are for a NF4V model. I cannot guarantee this setup works with all models, or with your particular router as it may have custom software installed by your ISP, or a different firmware version.

If you haven't signed up to get a DNS Proxy please click the big orange button now! You'll need an account first!

Step 1

You'll need to access your router's config by entering it's IP address in your browser's (Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer etc.) address bar. Usually the IP address you need to type is 192.168.20.1 then press enter. Click the image to see what I mean.

You'll need to sign in if you have a password set on your router (by default mine was  "admin" for the username and "admin" for the password. Seriously, no joke, try it) If all else fails, try reading the instructions that came with the router.

Step 2

Once you're in you'll find yourself on the router's landing "Device Info" page. From here you'll need to click on "Advanced Setup".

Step 3

Now you'll need to click on "DNS" in the navigation menu on the left side of the page. Once this page loads, click on the 'radio  button' next to "use the following static DNS IP address.

Enter the 2 DNS Proxy server IP addresses from SmartDNSProxy.com here as shown. (If you don't know which server to choose, the ones closest to your country are usually the best choice.) I've chosen Sydney & Japan

Step 4

Now go back to SmartDNSProxy.com, login, and check to make sure you're getting all the ticks. You'll probably need to click "Re-Activate" at this stage. Once you have all the ticks, you are done and dusted! Connect your favourite device, and give it a whirl!

WORTH NOTING...

If your ISP (Internet Service Provider) changes your IP address from time to time, or if you lose power or have to restart your router, or if your router is set to automatically restart (sometimes known as smart heal, or first aid) then you'll need to login to SmartDNSProxy.com and "ReActivate" your IP address to get overseas content working again. This only take a few seconds to do. I have added a link to SmartDNSProxy.com to my favourites bar. I've named it "MAKE NETFLIX WORK" so my less technically able family members can fix things if I'm not home :-)
